Ceremony

When The Japanese House first opened at the Boston Children's Museum, a series of Shinto rituals were performed to celebrate and honor the rebuilding of the House and its completion. Many of the artifacts used in these ceremonies are in the Museum’s collection. The collection also includes Shinto objects, such as the kamidana, and Buddhist objects, such as the butsudan. These objects and those like them represent important Japanese traditions. Look for these artifacts to find out more about their use.
