This wood and steel, hand-forged carpenter's hammer is one of a set of three that provide a representative sample of Japanese hammers. It was used in the construction of The Japanese House in 1979. The hammer has one flat face and one pointed end as well as a wooden handle with a manufacturer's sticker on the side. The hammer was used for many aspects of woodworking. The hammers in this set were made in a Japanese fashion not used in the West, providing a superior balance.
