Folk Toys and Games

As a Children’s Museum, objects that demonstrate childhood, particularly in different cultures, are important to our collections. This group shows contemporary toys and games as well as “folk toys,” which may appear old-fashioned to some but continue to be important items for Japanese children today. Manekineko and Daruma are important symbols for good luck and achievement, and hanetsuki continues to be a popular New Year's pastime. Can you find these objects in the group?
